The REAL have received record numbers of complaints from PV customers in the last 3 months.
Swansea’s communities are being subjected to the ruthless sales techniques of dozens of vulture like solar panel businesses. These new businesses have sprung up over night and are trying to take advantage and have a slice of the busy solar panel industry.
Unfortunately there are dozens of out of work mortgage sales men, mobile phone business men, insurance sales men etc, etc. who all want a slice of the action. Most potential PV customers who are going to part with £10 to £13 Thousand pounds of life savings do not welcome un-skilled cheap labour backed up by un-educated and knowledgless sales men.
These people run newly formed businesses in such a technical area with little or often NO idea how these systems actually work or perform.
What these people do not realise is how much knowledge, training and effort is actually required, by several individuals, to put together a succesful and reputable photo-voltaic design and installation business.
As time served electricians and a 10 year old NICEIC Approved electrical business the solar panel side of our business is a new and exciting avenue for us. We are involved in on going research with Swansea University’s electronic engineering department and are learning in great detail how PV systems work in our area (Swansea) and how the different types of panels and inverters work compared with each other in our mini-climate.
Through this research, including the additional technical training we have under gone over the last 18 months, and added to the experience gained by installing dozens of PV systems, we are able to offer complete piece of mind to any solar panel system customer.
We offer excellent solar panel systems, high voltage panels with high efficieny inverters and electrical work installed by our own electrical staff.
We do not use any sub-contractors and guarantee a no nonsense service.
We are enthusiastic and enjoy our PV work and want all our customers to enjoy the experience of having a solar panel system installed.
Based in Sketty we are always at the end of the phone if you ever need advice or our services.
The REAL consumer protection agency for the re-newable energy sector has issued many warnings across the UK and now Swansea is in the firing line.
A. Lloyd Electrical & Solar Ltd’s advice is…………..1: Use a local MCS established solar panel business 2: Check how long the business has been trading and always ask for several previous customer references. 3: Beware of any company using sub-contractors, many of these sub contractor guys have done a 1 week PV course (If that) and will be the cheapest operatives the company can find to do their work. This means they are likely to be inexperienced labour, so play it safe and always ask for the credentials of the ACTUAL installer. 4: Always read ALL of a quotation and beware of cheap prices. It is unlikely that a genuine business will conduct work too economically because they know how much time is required to complete this work and how good the kit has to be to last the 25 years on the open roof. Cheap prices mean cheap products and labour, usually from companies that have no intention of existing in 2 years time.
Most companies want a quick buck from this booming new industry and will not be around in 18 months time should you have problems with what they supplied and installed you.
Under the MCS scheme rules a company employing the services of sub-contractors will have had a sub-contractor agreement form signed by the guys sub-contracting. This document discreetly takes the liability of the installation away from the man who sold you the solar panel system and puts it on the guys who fitted it. Should disaster strike or you have any problems after the install of the PV system you will have very little chance of your installer returning to rectify his problems.
We have worked with many different PV roof mounting systems and they differ greatly. Inexperienced labour let loose on your roof could be disastrous. site not working . After all, if a solar panel blows off the roof or you have a 470Volt DC cable fire, the un-skilled always turn out to be the un-insured, leaving the innocent customer carrying the can and a world of horrible problems.
Swansea has its fair share of reputable MCS businesses but just beware of the rogue……….as usual………..he is out there!!!
