Green deal now available

The UK government has now officially launched the ‘Green Deal’. The Green deal is a new system by which home owners or business owners can have their properties up-graded using government money.

The scheme is literally weeks old and is not well known yet. Basically a home owner can have up to £10,000 given to them by a ‘Green deal’ provider. This money is then to be used to up-grade the homes insulation, windows, boiler and to even add Solar PV. The money is paid back to the lender via the home owners electricity bill.

The rate of repayment is set so that the savings made on the new installed insulation etc equate to what the heating bills would have been without the improvements. This is decided by a ‘Green deal assessor’ who will visit the property before work starts to calculate these requirements.

With ever increasing fuel bills the green deal could be the way out for many home owners.
